As part of National Shakespeare Week, Year 5 and 6 children visited Rainham Library to listen to Beverley Birch share her knowledge on William Shakespeare and read from her current books – retelling the most famous of his plays.
Beverley also provided the children with different artifacts from the Shakespearean period which the children could explore to make them aware of how the plays would have been performed during the time. The author then signed books for the children who had purchased copies.
The children behaved extremely well, listening attentively and contributing their thoughts and asking
questions! They showed enthusiasm and an interest in learning Shakespeare in the future! Thank you to Beverley Birch and Medway Libraries for this opportunity.
